SKIN CANCER DETECTION  and PREVENTION

Patients can go to a dermatologist and have many moles remooved evert visit  We provide an honest and thorough skin exam from top of the head to the botton of the feet.  Only moles that are potentiallly skin cancer will be biopsied.   We use our experienced staff including PAs and MDs to evaluate any mole that is seen.  Since we treat more that 3000 skin cancers per year and we can use the latest techonology like Melafind and dermoscopy to diagnose and detect skin cancrs.  We aim to get any patient who has a concern about skin cancer to be seen by either an expert PA or MD as soon as possible to relieve any patient's anxiety.  We also have lab facilities on site so that for many skin cancers the lab diagnosis can be confirmed within 30 mintes.

SKIN CANCER PREVENTION

We employ the latest methos for skin cancer prevention in additon to reminding everyone that a broad spectrum sunscreen is useful and  can prevent some DNA sun damage.  The use of DNA repair enzyme creams can prevent skin cancers and pre-cancers by 68%. Laser resurfacing that heals within 3 days can also remove a layer of sun damage and decrease future skin cancers.

What is Mohs Surgery?
Mohs surgery is a highly specialized treatment for the total removal of skin cancer with:
• the highest cure rate
• the least scarring possible WHEN PERFORMED BY FELLOWSHIP TRAINED FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEON/DERMATOLOGIST

This method uses a Complete Microscopic Examination of all the tissues removed including mapping techniques to allow

the surgeon to remove all the roots and extensions of the

skin cancer.

What are the advantages of the Mohs Surgery?

By using these detailed mapping techniques and complete microscopic control, the Mohs surgeon can pinpoint areas involved with cancer that are otherwise invisible to the naked eye thereby removing even the smallest microscopic roots of cancer.

The result is:
• the removal of as little normal skin as possible.
• the highest possibility for curing cancer.
